April 13 – Rest Day

Wake Up – First alarm at 5 am, I actually woke up at 7 am (late night)

  • Rest Day
  • Just kidding – in my class at school we did a rendition of CF 17.4 so I took part in that quickly for about 8 minutes of the total workout (13 min. AMRAP of 55 ball slams, 55 wall balls, 55 pushups, 55 squat jumps) this is what I have to work with and it was a great workout all around. Sometimes I’ll throw in a CF workout to see how they do fitness wise. After showing them the movements and correcting some people, I decided to join in considering I had worked up quite a sweat while doing so

Daily Devotional:

  • Bible in 1 Year Series
    • One Thing is Needed
      1. Psalm 41:7-13. The priority of presence
        • be confident in the ultimate triumph of good over evil
        • know that God is pleased with you
      2. Luke 10:25-11:4. The priorities of Jesus
        • ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’ (v.27). This should be your highest priority
        • Love your neighbor as yourself is the next highest priority
        • Why we don’t get involved:
          1. We are too busy – in a hurry; time consuming activity
          2. We don’t want to pollute ourselves
          3. We don’t want to take risk
        • Everyone is our neighbor, no matter what race, creed or color
        • Draw near to people who are in need – get involved and help them
        • Not spending time with Jesus is the biggest mistake you can make in your spiritual life
          • Nobody ever said on their death bed, “I wish I spend more time at the office.”
          • Many regret not spending more time on their most important relationships
        • Prayer, should impact the rest of your life – pray for daily provision; pray for ‘your Kingdom come’; think about the sins you need to forgive others, or be forgiven yourself
      3. Deuteronomy 2:24-4:14. The priority of relationships
        • Following the example of the Good Samaritan has an evangelistic consequence
        • Teach God’s love to your children
  • WIRE For Men: Fueling Up (4 day devotional)
    • Too Busy? Hmm…
      • When sacred opportunities come to listen, to care, to encourage, to serve, to give, to tell others about our faith – we men use two tactics to avoid it
        1. Too busy, right now
        2. Make up for it later
      • God knows we are busy, he knows what we are doing
      • He knows what he is doing when he calls us, he know our time is sacred and we have none to waste

What I Am Listening To:

  • N/A today

What I Am Reading:

  • Meet Your Strawman
  • Daily Stoic
    • You won’t be perfect, and that’s alright
      • Do not judge yourself too harshly. We can set an ideal; we can practice virtue; we can steer ourselves in the stoic direction.
      • Veering off course is bound to happen.
      • The important thing is how quickly we get back on course, how quickly our training comes to our aid during the next test of our reason
